The Atlantic Guitar Quartet is a four piece classical guitar ensemble based out of Baltimore. If you read the groups manifesto you'll find that they emphasize performing the works of living composers. This Friday they will be doing just that in a concert at the Engineers Club at the Garrett Jacobs Mansion in Baltimore City – where they have held the prestigious Artist-in-Residence position since 2010.
The concert program will contain works from Olivier Bensa, Roland Dyens, and the world premier of Be Not Afraid: Music from Prospero's Island by Ronald Pearl. The night's music emphasizes the musicians abilities to explore all ranges of their guitar technique, as well as texture, tonal and coloration possibilities. This unique set of repertoire coupled with the ensemble's direct and thoughtful interpretations promise to make the evening a memorable concert experience.
The concert begins at 8:00 pm and doors open at 7:30. There will also be a cash bar available before and after the concert. Tickets are available here and discounts are offered with a student ID or through advanced purchase. Read on for a short video clip of the ensemble performing at Spring Stage Performances last spring in NYC. You can also get the rest of your AGQ fix satisfied by keeping with the group via Facebook, Twitter, or their Official Web Page.
