Spring is supposed to be here. It most certainly has not come yet. We keep being teased with 65 and sunny, only to be followed two days later with snow covering the ground. And the rain, man. Come on with this rain. Anyways, Ghosts I've Met are dropping a new album, From A Spark, next Tuesday the 12th and the lead-off track soundtracks my feelings about life and weather at the moment.

Just wanted to let everyone around the Erie/Cleveland area know that Those Who Dig favorite Sharon Van Etten will be playing the Beachland Ballroom this Sunday the 10th. I loved Van Etten's epic and had the chance to talk to her and I'm telling you, this show is not to be missed. I'll even high five you if I see you there.

Spring has Officially sprung in Baltimore and it has brought back with it not only my usual feelings of optimism for the Orioles, but also a question which has consumed my entire life.
What song would I come to bat to if I were a professional baseball player?
The way I see it, if the right song was blaring across the speakers of a packed stadium while I made my way from the dugout to the batters box, my life would be a never ending stream of walk off home runs and cheering fans.
Today's Holler Back! feature presents a few of my ever changing answers to this question and hopefully gives you food for thought and room for some feedback.
Play ball.

I was lucky enough to get the chance to see 74 year old blues guitar legend Buddy Guy the other night. Without hyperbole I have to say this was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

It's hard to find lo-fi indie from Brooklyn that really stands out if for no other reason than pure overload. Fortunately for us (and, subsequently, you!) we've found Grandpa Was A Lion and his beautiful, self-recorded album, The Whalestoe Tapes.

About a month ago, I was introduced to the music of Chicago band the Welcome via their self-titled debut EP. Because I dug what I heard, I was excited to learn they had plans to release several more EPs on a monthly basis. The time has come for the first follow-up, which I am happy to present to you tonight. Yes, it is all R. Kelly covers, and yes, it is quite awesome.

Yasuji Ohagi is one of my favorite young musicians and an unabridged master of the guitar. His technique gives him the capacity to do anything with the instrument he desires and his musicality gives him the creativity to make it worth listening to.
Although prodigious, his recordings can be hard to find on this side of the planet so I have had to get them shipped to me via ebay and amazon. Regardless, they are worth the trouble and I would like to share one of my favorite selections from his album Bleu here today.

I was staying with my aunt and uncle while I visited Washington, DC for a few days last weekend. One night, my uncle and I were sitting on the couch watching some March Madness. It was a competitive, back-and-forth close game, but I couldn't focus. There was something else on my mind. "Uncle Dave," I asked, "is it really true that you like Abba?"
I don't like to review albums until I've fully absorbed them. I know this bucks the modern blogging trend, but hey, we're special at Those Who Dig. Let me start by saying I love Computers and Blues. There it is; mystery ruined. I've been waiting for years for this return to form for The Streets and Mike Skinner was not about to retire without dropping another great album.
The Streets – Lock The Locks
The Streets – Trust Me
